======== TROJAN ALERT === TROJAN ALERT === TROJAN ALERT ========
Be on the lookout for a new Trojan (and possibly virus) which is
making its way around the boards.
Uploaded to my board as OPTIMUM.ZIP by new user MARK KIM (invalid
phone numbers of course), the file purports to be a virus/trojan
scanner. But when run, the program creates dozens of garbage
subdirectories (with names such as MHDG_ASDE) filled with similarly
named files. The files contain the words "hahaha".
It may do more damage than this, but the one of my users who was
unfortunate enough to run this turkey killed it before it ran to
completion.
Reading the .DOC file would tip off most users, as it is full of
typos, spelling errors, and obviously bogus information. A quote:
"This is a revolutionary method pattened into the year 200x."
Using CHK4BOMB to scan the .EXE file for strings shows such
pleasantries as:
"MacAfee Can't/Won't do sh*t for you this time (hehehe)"
Looks like someone's mommy needs to take away their computer
privileges...
Please repost this warning to all BBSs that you frequent.
